Job description

Introduction
As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will lead a team and strive for excellence. Join the established medical team at Pinhoe View and make a significant difference for men and women with enduring mental health issues.
Pinhoe View is a 36-bed inpatient service with a full-time Consultant Psychiatrist and two associate specialists. You will work within a multidisciplinary team (Nursing, OT, Psychology, Social Work) to care for up to 16 patients, supported by an Associate Specialist doctor.
Your key responsibilities include managing complex cases, formulating care plans, guiding evidence-based treatments, and ensuring effective care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Liaise with care co-ordinators, families, carers, and other agencies
• Implement the Mental Health Act and liaise with the Ministry of Justice (if applicable)
• Engage in multi-disciplinary and multi-agency collaboration
• Handle administrative duties, including NHSE contractual obligations and discharge summaries within 24 hours
• Maintain GMC registration and professional conduct
• Maintain Section 12(2) and approved clinician status

The hospital operates a two-tier on-call system, with the post holder serving as the duty Responsible Clinician during the second tier.
You will provide cover during colleagues' leave, with reciprocal arrangements.
Candidate Requirements:

• MBBS or equivalent
• Full GMC registration with license to practice
• MRCPsych or equivalent
• Ability to independently manage clinical care
• Section 12(2) approval and Approved clinician status
• Experience in General Adult settings and multidisciplinary teamwork
• Experience in acute inpatient or community settings, including risk assessment and management
