Aneurin Bevan University Health Board is the operational name of Aneurin Bevan University Local Health Board. The Health Board was established on the 1st October 2009 and covers the areas of Blaenau Gwent, Caerphilly, Monmouthshire, Newport, Torfaen and South Powys.

Job OverviewThe post advertised has become available as a replacement into an existing consultant complement. This is a 10-session post, providing senior medical input into community care and inpatient services for a defined population in North Monmouthshire. The post holder will be supported by secretarial and administrative staff and will have use of appropriate office space and Information Technology resources. You will also be supported by a Full Time Specialty Doctor.
The post holder will join a forward thinking, compassionate and proactive Community Mental Health Team (North Monmouthshire CMHT) who have been nominated for a number of NHS and community awards. The role will also require providing an acute service into the inpatient unit and the Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team (CRHTT) serving the area. There are strong links between the members of the multi-disciplinary/multi-agency team, GPs and voluntary agencies. The appointed consultant will need to be Section 12 approved and be able to assess for DoLs when needed.
Specific ResponsibilitiesThe post holder will be a senior member of the North Monmouthshire Mental Health Community Team, the Talygarn inpatient ward and the acute service covering the area. They will positively respond to requests from Team Members who need advice in the day-to-day management of adult patients in any setting within the borough and contribute to the development of adult mental health services in the borough.

- To provide effective leadership to all staff engaged in the specialty
- To sustain and develop teaching and research wherever appropriate
- To undertake all work in accordance with the Health Board's procedures and operating policies
- To conduct clinical practice in accordance with contractual requirements and within the parameters of the Division's and Health Board's service plans
- To maintain the confidence of business plans and development strategies formulated for the specialty, the Medical Division or the Health Board
