We are delighted to offer the opportunity for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Adult Inpatient Ward in Woodlands, Ipswich, Suffolk.
This is a 1.0 WTE Consultant Psychiatrist post working on Avocet Ward, Woodlands, Ipswich, in the Acute Adult Pathway in Suffolk Services. This is a replacement post following the previous post-holder retiring.
Avocet Ward is one of two 21 bed acute adult wards within the Woodlands Unit, adjacent to the Ipswich Hospital on the same site.
The Unit also consists of a 10 bed Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), a Section 136 suite, a later life ward and a Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team. The wards work collaboratively with the community teams, in particular with the Crisis Resolution & Home Treatment Team, to provide comprehensive acute treatment.

Suffolk is a rural county, with much of the countryside given over to farming. Suffolk’s county town is Ipswich, based in the East of the County. An old port, its dockland area, is undergoing extensive renovations and it is expanding with an influx of high tech industries.
