Job summary
The exciting new role of Associate Medical Director for West Norfolk Locality would also be considered for the right candidate, if the candidate was interested in a leadership development opportunity.
This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant to provide community secondary mental health services to adults over 25 with mental health needs requiring specialist assessment and interventions.
There are two adult Community Mental Health teams in West Norfolk: one serving Kings Lynn and another serving Downham Market and Swaffham.
The post includes 7.5 programmed direct clinical activity sessions and 2.5 sessions supporting professional activities.
The job plans and working patterns reflect the functional requirements of the Locality and the National Service Framework for Mental Health, not determined by catchment area.
All whole-time doctors are expected to work 7.5 DCC sessions in one or more clinical teams.
Through job planning and agreement, 2.5 SPA sessions allow for a special interest, teaching, research, management duties, administration, and CPD.
These arrangements offer flexibility and opportunities to change working patterns and clinical interests, with regular reviews, e.g., shifting focus from inpatient to primary care roles.
There are 10 consultant psychiatrist posts in West Norfolk, including roles in adult community mental health, older adults, inpatient, crisis, liaison, and youth services. A further post is planned to meet Core 24 standards.
The non-consultant workforce includes 3 Staff and Specialist doctors, up to 9 trainees, and non-medical prescribers supporting clinical care.
