Job description

The exciting new role of Associate Medical Director for West Norfolk Locality would also be considered for the right candidate if interested in a leadership development opportunity.

  • New Starter package of £15,000 spread over 3 years as a retention bonus

  • Roles also attract a loyalty Scheme Bonus of £2,500 over the subsequent 5 years of service
  • CPD of £2,000 per annum, with the facility to accumulate annual funding for up to three years for accessing higher-cost development opportunities
  • 'Holiday of a lifetime scheme': Consultants and SASG doctors can bank/accrue annual leave over up to 5 years to facilitate extended leave. This scheme enables planning a 'holiday of a lifetime' or extended paid break.

This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic Consultant to provide community secondary mental health services to adults over 25 years with mental health needs requiring specialist assessment and interventions.

There are two adult Community Mental Health teams in West Norfolk: one serving Kings Lynn and another serving Downham Market and Swaffham.

Main duties of the job

The post has 7.5 programmed direct clinical activity sessions and 2.5 programmed supporting professional activity sessions.

The job plans and working patterns reflect the functional requirements of the Locality and the National Service Framework for Mental Health, not determined by catchment area.

All full-time doctors are expected to work 7.5 DCC sessions in one or more clinical teams.

Through job planning and agreement, 2.5 SPA sessions allow for special interests, teaching, research, management, administration, and CPD.

These arrangements provide flexibility and opportunities to adapt roles and interests over time, with regular reviews.

About us

There are 10 consultant psychiatrist posts in West Norfolk, covering various services including working age adult, older adults, inpatient, crisis, liaison, and youth services.

The non-consultant workforce includes 3 Staff and Specialist doctors and up to 9 trainees. NSFT has developed non-medical prescribers to support clinical delivery.

Qualifications
