Job summary

Reading Borough Council seeks a Consultant Practitioner for the Edge of Care Team to support children in safely remaining with their families and to plan timely reunifications. The role focuses on delivering trauma-informed, child-centred practice through careful assessment and collaborative planning.

You will work with children, families, social workers, foster carers and partner agencies to ensure careful transitions, permanence and best outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience in reunification planning and family-based safeguarding.
• Ability to lead on complex cases with professionals across agencies.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance for children’s services.

We're looking for a dedicated and experienced Consultant Practitioner to join our developing Edge of Care Team, where you'll play a leading role in supporting children to safely remain within their family networks, return home from our care when appropriate, and achieve stable, long-term family arrangements that meet their needs.

About the role

As a Consultant Practitioner, you will lead on reunification and transition planning across the Edge of Care Service.

You will work closely with children, families, social workers, foster carers, kinship carers and partner agencies to ensure that children experience carefully planned transitions, achieve permanence, and have the best possible opportunity to thrive.
