The closing date is 21 December 2025
We are looking to appoint a whole‑time Consultant Plastic Surgeon specialising in soft tissue reconstruction (including breast reconstruction) and trauma to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The role is based at the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.
We would welcome applications from candidates across the full spectrum of experience, from those who have recently completed training to those who have well‑established careers.
Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full‑time can be considered for the position; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
Should any further vacancies arise shortlisted applicants will be considered.
The appointee will, together with consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision and development of the breast reconstruction service at the Royal Hallamshire, working closely with the oncoplastic surgeons within the team. The post holder will support the trauma service at the Northern General site for general plastic trauma including burns and semi‑elective conditions. All plastic surgery consultants in the team participate in general plastic and reconstructive work including skin cancer.
The appointee will be part of a trauma on‑call rota (1:18) covering both Trusts involving Northern General, Royal Hallamshire and the Sheffield Children’s Hospital. They will have continuing responsibility for patients in their care and the proper functioning of the Department.

More than a third of the city lies inside the beautiful Peak District National Park, and it is virtually surrounded by open countryside. Its central location and excellent transport links also mean it is less than two hours from most major metropolitan areas.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is one of the UK's busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. This is an exceptional opportunity to join an award‑winning and internationally recognised team, with a focus on innovation, research and high‑quality care, as well as family‑friendly working. We are keen to discuss with individuals how we can support their ambitions.
Please refer to the supporting job description and person specification which will outline the duties of the role including an indicative job plan.
