We are seeking to recruit a substantive Consultant Perinatal Psychiatrist to work as part of the Community Perinatal Mental Health for Central and West Lancashire. The Specialist Perinatal service within Lancashire and South Cumbria is a result of investment into perinatal services nationally. The current vacancy has arisen due to the departure of the previous post-holder. The post is substantive and part time (9PA), which is expected to be worked over 5 days. It will be based at Leyland House, Leyland.
The postholder would be expected to join the Consultant On Call rota, for which additional remuneration would be paid.
Main duties of the jobThe Perinatal CMHT core work hours are Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. The Perinatal CMHT has a referral procedure, which includes an online referral form, available through the LSCFT intranet and internet site and a duty system. The Perinatal Consultant Psychiatrist (CP) will be the clinical leader of the Perinatal CMHT supported by the Operational Leads.
The CP will prioritise women depending on clinical need and ensure recommended timeframes are met. They will have a role in the assessment, formulation and management of cases and will carry a caseload of patients with complex care needs and of patients deemed to present with increased risk in the perinatal period.
Applicants should hold full GMC registration and be included on the Specialist register of the GMC or they should be eligible for entry to the Specialist Register within 6 months of the interview date.
It is a requirement that applicants are Section 12 Approved at the time of commencing employment and have or are eligible to have Approved Clinician Status. Remuneration will be as set out in the terms of the New Consultant Contract according to previous experience.
