Job description
Overview

The main duties of the roles are subject to change in accordance with the needs of the service. Specialist interests as outlined above are essential. It is expected the candidate will maintain APLS/NLS provider status and keep up to date with current developments in acute and neonatal paediatrics. As one of our Paediatric Consultants you will provide clinical leadership, set standards of clinical care, participate in the development of acute child health services and promote integration between primary and secondary care services and preventative health.

Roles and locations

We have 2 roles, mainly based at Basildon, for which we would expect you to have a special interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology or Epilepsy, and 3 roles, mainly based at Broomfield, for which we would expect you to have a special interest in Safeguarding, Neonates and Cardiology and Ambulatory Care. If you are interested but do not currently have the relevant experience, please apply as we are pleased to offer support and development for these roles. For those with a special interest there will also be opportunities to undertake and develop expertise in other areas as per above.

Responsibilities
  • Undertake 3 outpatient sessions per week and work in a multi-disciplinary team with clinical accountability for day-to-day management of children at their respective sites as a consultant of the week.
  • Provide clinical leadership, set standards of clinical care, and participate in the development of acute child health services.
  • Promote integration between primary and secondary care services and preventative health.
  • Work with colleagues in the level 2 neonatal department to provide an effective and safe neonatal service and develop clinical protocols and guidelines.
  • Maintain involvement in clinical audit and clinical governance.
