An established industry player is seeking a dedicated medical professional to join their Paediatric Psychological Medicine Service. This role offers the chance to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team, providing essential psychiatric care to children and young people. The position involves leading initiatives that enhance mental health services, contributing to the development of a pioneering children's hospital. This is a unique opportunity to make a significant impact in the field of child health and well-being while working in a supportive and innovative environment. If you're passionate about improving mental health outcomes for young patients, this role is perfect for you.
Job overview
The post is PAs. The first year includes PAs seconded for research linked to the Children Hospital. This may be extended but if not the post would revert to sessions in Liaison Psychiatry.
Years ago, the PPMS was delivered entirely by Psychology. Psychiatry posts were created in response to significant gaps in access to psychiatric input for children and young people with co-morbid mental health problems or complex presentations. Since then, the PPMS has evolved into a multidisciplinary service, reflecting the needs of all children and young people at CUH, incorporating nursing and family therapy. The professional leads collaborate to balance MDT input to meet the psychological and mental health needs of children and young people at CUH. An exciting aspect of this role is the opportunity to contribute to the development of Cambridge Children’s Hospital, a partnership between CPFT, CUH, and the University of Cambridge, which aims to create a dedicated children’s hospital on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus, integrating existing Tier wards from Fulbourn. This hospital will provide integrated physical and mental health care at a scale not previously achieved in the UK.
Depending on the interests of the post-holder, research sessions could focus on various areas related to the Children’s Hospital development.
