Job summary

NHS Dumfries & Galloway seeks a Consultant in Orthodontics to work 24 hours per week, primarily at Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary with some duties in Glasgow Dental Hospital. The role emphasizes diagnostic and advisory care for Dentofacial/Craniofacial conditions and Hypodontia, in a high-quality multidisciplinary setting.

The successful candidate will join the Orthodontics team, contribute to training of junior staff, and may lead the local MCN.

Qualifications

• Must be fully registered with the GMC and included on the Specialist Register for Orthodontics (or eligible for inclusion within 6 months of interview).
• Experience in multidisciplinary/orthodontic care is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Provide diagnostic and advisory service for patients referred to the Orthodontic Department.
• Focus on interdisciplinary management of Dentofacial/Craniofacial conditions and Hypodontia cases.
• Support professional supervision and development of Training Grade staff.
• Possible role as Clinical Lead for the Managed Clinical Network (MCN) in Orthodontics.
