Overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic consultant orthodontist to join our friendly team at Derriford Hospital, Plymouth. This post is to replace a colleague who has retired. The successful applicant will be part of a growing, established team of consultants providing comprehensive secondary and tertiary care to the population of Plymouth, South Devon and East Cornwall.

Main duties of the job

The successful candidate will be responsible to the Clinical Service Line Director for the effective and efficient use of resources under his/her control, to contribute to the development of orthodontic services locally and regionally and to participate in departmental, directorate and Orthodontic Managed Clinical Network meetings.

Job responsibilities
  • Provide advice to dental and medical practitioners working in primary care services
  • Provide advice to hospital clinicians, including consultants in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, Restorative Dentistry and a range of medical specialties
  • Liaise with specialist orthodontic practitioners working within the primary care sector and provide advice if requested.
  • Provide a high-quality treatment service for patients with severe or complex malocclusions
  • Provide a high-quality treatment service for patients requiring interdisciplinary care
  • Collaborative working with other team members within and external to the service line, including supervision of our orthodontic therapist
