An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dedicated ophthalmologist to join their dynamic team in Truro. The medical staff includes nine consultants (including this post), six specialty grade doctors, two associate specialists, a specialty trainee, two glaucoma/oculoplastic fellows, and one vitreo-retinal fellow. The ophthalmic services are supported by a team of orthoptists, specialist nurses, ophthalmic technicians, and optometrists.
The department is well equipped with four Cirrus OCTs, Heidelberg Spectralis OCT with HRA, and Topcon Triton plus. Both Heidelberg and Topcon machines are capable of performing OCT angiography, fluorescein, and ICG angiographies. The retinal unit has access to Argon Pascal laser and Aviso ultrasound machines. All clinics are run on Medisoft electronic patient record (EPR). Ophthalmic images are networked through Ophthalsuite Blueworks and accessible from Medisoft throughout Cornwall. The department has two operating theatres: one with a ceiling-mounted microscope, Constellation, and Infiniti machines for anterior and posterior segment surgery in Truro; the other with a floor-mounted microscope and Infiniti Phaco machine for day case surgery in Penzance, West Cornwall.
The ophthalmology department is located in a large dedicated facility on the hospital site in Truro. There is a strong commitment to providing services in the community close to patients, with ophthalmology outpatient facilities available at seven community centers and hospitals across Cornwall.
