A leading healthcare provider in North Cumbria is seeking a dynamic Consultant Ophthalmologist with subspecialty in Glaucoma. This position is a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave and offers the opportunity to innovate in ophthalmic practice. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive eyecare across multiple clinical sites, including Cumberland Infirmary and West Cumberland Hospital. Candidates should hold FRCOphth and have considerable expertise in clinical governance and teaching.

Housing is relatively inexpensive and there are excellent state and private education establishments.
The post would be based at the Cumberland Infirmary Hospital, Carlisle however the role would be for job planned working sessions at West Cumberland Hospital, Whitehaven as well as potentially other peripheral Ophthalmic clinical sites.
We are looking for candidates who are interested in developing innovative ophthalmic practice; helping to bridge the gap between acute hospital care, community and primary care. Our post offers an exciting opportunity for an ophthalmologist to help us develop a 'whole system' approach to delivering safe and effective modern eye care.
The successful candidate will join a team of Consultant Ophthalmologists, with specialist interests, who provide general ophthalmic services across North Cumbria to serve a population of approx. 360,000 with some referrals also coming from part of South West Scotland and West Northumbria.
