The post is based at Singleton Hospital in Swansea. The successful candidate will join a team supporting glaucoma specialists as part of the South West Wales Regional Glaucoma Service, with shared duties across Swansea Bay and Hywel Dda University Health Boards. You will be part of a team of 16 Consultants providing Ophthalmology services, participating in a 1 in 16 on-call rota at Singleton Hospital. In exceptional cases, duties at other locations within the Health Board may be required, with travel expenses reimbursed according to policy.
You will provide clinical services, including prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illnesses. Working with colleagues and the multidisciplinary team, you will have ongoing responsibility for patient wellbeing, including proper delegation and training of staff. You will also contribute to the safe, efficient, and effective functioning of services aligned with the Health Board's values and operational policies. You are encouraged to suggest service improvements and report safety concerns. Adherence to GMC principles of good medical practice is required. Participation in risk management, clinical governance, and healthcare activities within the department and the Surgical Division is expected.
