Job description

CPL UK Healthcare (formally RIG Locums) are currently looking for a Old Age Consultant, NHS based in Cardiff, South Wales area.

The role offers highly negotiable rates for a dedicated psychiatrist. The trust seeks an enthusiastic Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to work full-time and it would be excellent for someone wanting to broaden their experience of community and inpatient psychiatry and develop their clinical skills in a supportive and challenging environment. The team is well established with good support from senior clinical and managerial colleagues.

The number of patients will vary according to demand from the postholder’s area, but should be no more onerous than other areas. The postholder will be expected to be involved in the management of complex patients. The clinical leadership of the team falls within the postholder’s remit, however there are other colleagues available to provide support. The postholder will be involved as appropriate with patient referral and admissions. The postholder will be involved in Care plan and treatment formulation, guidance on evidence-based treatment and effectiveness. The postholder will be involved closely with liaison and collaborative working with other services within and without the Directorate. This will involve multi-disciplinary, multi-agency and partnership working. As a Consultant in this area, the postholder will be expected to take their full part in the Mental Health Act implementation. The post holder will undertake Functional and Memory clinics in community including home visits when required.
