Job summary

Swansea Bay University Health Board is seeking a Consultant in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Job description

A requirement of the post is to have achieved ATSM/SITM in Maternal Medicine/High Risk Pregnancy. The post holder will contribute to prospective on-call rota (1 in 8) covering both obstetrics and gynaecology.

The post holder will also contribute to prospective daytime clinical cover of gynaecology ward (1:12) or delivery suite (1:8).

You will be required to adhere to the principles of good medical practice as laid down by the General Medical Council.

Main duties of the job
  • To provide, along with other consultant colleagues, a service in the specialty to the hospitals so designated, with responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of illness and promotion of health.
  • To have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in your charge in liaison with consultant colleagues and for the proper functioning of the department in line with the Operational Policy and Strategic Plan.
  • Working with consultant colleagues and the multi-professional team, you will have responsibility for the well-being of all patients under your care, allowing for proper delegation and training of staff. You will also be responsible for the safe, efficient, and effective functioning of the services, in line with the values, operational policies, and the Annual Plan of the Health Board. You are encouraged to consider how services can be improved and to report safety concerns through quality improvement methodology.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Registered with the GMC
  • Licensed to practice
  • On Specialist Register with GMC CCT in Obstetrics and Gynaecology or equivalent, or eligible for CCT within 6 months of interview, or a statement of eligibility issued by GMC, or a recognized specialist qualification from a European Member State allowing direct entry to the GMC Specialist Register.
  • MRCOG / FRCOG or equivalent
