Job description

We seek Consultant Neurologists to join our team of seven consultants and nine specialist nurses. In addition to outpatient clinical duties, the successful candidate will be welcome to join a one-week-in-five acute neurology rota, providing advice to colleagues and ward referrals at the Victoria Hospital. There is no out-of-hours commitment. The successful candidate would also be welcome to develop a specialist interest clinic. Research sessions within the Academic Neurology Department at the University of St Andrews may be available to suitable candidates.

There is also opportunity to work within the Fife Rehabilitation Service (FRS) at in the Sir George Sharp Unit at Cameron Hospital to provide In-patient and outpatient services for patients with neurological disability.

The FRS provides a district specialist service to patients with a range of disabling neurological conditions including brain injury, stroke, degenerative and progressive neurological diseases such as multiple sclerosis, Guillain Barre Syndrome or polyneuropathy, non-traumatic spinal cord injury, and neurological tumours.

The Neurology Department is supported by a Fife-based consultant-led neurophysiology service (including EEG, EMG/NCS, VEPs) and monthly neuroradiology review meetings.
Fife has close ties with the Department of Clinical Neurosciences in Edinburgh. This provides a highly-regarded weekly CPD session for all neurologists from south-east Scotland. The successful candidate will be welcome to take part in these meetings.

NHS Fife is a partner in the new Graduate Entry Medical school announcement between the Universities of St Andrews and Dundee (ScotGEM). There will be opportunities to become involved in this project.
