An exciting opportunity has arisen within the Neuro Rehabilitation Team for a Consultant Neurologist to join the expanding Brain Injury (BINJ) Service. We are seeking a motivated and experienced clinician who excels in the assessment and management of complex neurological conditions and is passionate about delivering and developing high-quality, multidisciplinary care for patients with brain injuries.
Based at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN) in Queen Square, this role offers the chance to work within a nationally recognised specialist service, supported by expert colleagues in neuropsychology, neuropsychiatry, neuroradiology, and wider neuroscience services. The successful applicant will be responsible for consultant-led outpatient clinics, MDT participation, and contributing to service improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing triage processes, reducing DNA rates, and improving clinic efficiency.
This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of a growing specialist service. You will work closely with the clinical lead and administrative teams to increase clinic capacity, support RTT compliance, and deliver a sustainable, high-impact model of care. The post also offers scope to engage in academic, audit, and teaching activities, with strong links to UCL and the UCL Institute of Neurology.

Main duties of the jobThis role will focus on the delivery and development of the Brain Injury (BINJ) outpatient service at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN). The successful candidate will lead consultant-delivered clinics for patients with traumatic brain injuries, supported by multidisciplinary input from neuropsychology, neuropsychiatry, and neuroradiology. They will actively contribute to MDTs, patient triage, and service development initiatives to improve clinic flow, reduce DNA rates, and enhance use of Patient-Initiated Follow-Up (PIFU).
The post holder will require strong clinical skills in neurology and brain injury management, alongside a collaborative, patient-centred approach. Experience in service improvement, governance, or education is desirable. Other responsibilities include participating in audit, CPD, and teaching, with opportunities for academic collaboration via UCL.
