Job Description:

ERM is seeking a motivated consultant to join our corporate sustainability and climate change team, focusing on supporting our Net Zero services.

The risks associated with climate change are systemic to the global economy. There is increasing pressure from investors, regulators, customers, and society for businesses and governments to transition to a lower carbon economy. ERM is well-positioned to assist clients across sectors in navigating this transition, offering strategic advice and practical implementation.

We are experiencing a surge in demand for services related to:

  • Developing corporate GHG inventories (scope 1, 2, and 3), including portfolio GHG inventories for financial clients;
  • Identifying GHG reduction opportunities in operations and value chains and integrating these into climate action strategies;
  • Advising on offsets;
  • Setting targets aligned with stakeholder expectations and the Paris Agreement;
  • Monitoring and reporting GHG inventories and progress (e.g., CDP, SBTi, Corporate Reports);
  • Acting as a trusted advisor on GHG accounting and reporting trends.

The team collaborates with other practice areas, particularly the climate change and corporate sustainability teams, to deliver value-added services in sustainability strategy, due diligence, EHS performance, and risk management to our international clients.

Primary Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Analyze and interpret technical information to understand and communicate commercial implications;
  • Manage client demands and time-sensitive requests;
  • Manage projects and proposals;
  • Build client relationships through support in account management and project delivery.

The role requires meeting personal billability and other targets.

Technical knowledge required
  • A relevant environmental degree;
  • Experience in environmental consulting, climate change, or related roles;
  • Understanding of ESG and sustainability issues in finance;
  • Knowledge of GHG accounting principles and schemes (e.g., GHG Protocol, SBTi);
  • Ability to identify and justify suitable methodologies;
  • Knowledge of climate change and low-carbon transition drivers, including regulations and market trends.
Technical skills
  • Experience managing small to mid-sized projects;
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel;
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously;
  • Business development and proposal writing experience;
  • Strong numeracy and data handling skills;
  • Excellent presentation and technical report writing skills.
Other requirements
  • Enthusiasm, energy, and a proactive attitude;
  • Motivation to learn and develop in new areas;

ERM values diversity, inclusion, and flexible working arrangements, including hybrid/home working. We foster a respectful, collaborative environment across geographies.
