A leading NHS hospital in Birmingham is seeking a Consultant Neonatologist to join their team at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital. The ideal candidate will handle responsibilities including on-call duties for the Neonatal unit, outpatient clinics, and contributing to the inclusive culture of the Trust. Subspecialty interest in cardiology is desired, along with the ability to provide high-quality neonatal care.
We invite applications for an exciting Consultant Neonatologist post at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital (BHH), part of University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB). The post is to start from 05.1.2026. Subspecialty interest in echocardiography/cardiology will be desirable. The post holder will be based mainly at the Birmingham Heartlands (BHH) site but will be expected to work at any of the other sites.
The Neonatal Unit at Heartlands is a designated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within the West Midlands Perinatal Network (WMPN) and provides medical care for babies of all gestations and is the designated Cooling centre for the Network. There are over 6500 deliveries each year on site, but we aim to provide the intensive and high dependency care required by all of the 10,000 babies born within the trust each year.
Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, located in the Bordesley Green area of Birmingham, provides acute hospital care including regional specialties and services. The Neonatal Unit at Heartlands is a designated Neonatal Intensive Care Unit within the West Midlands Perinatal Network (WMPN) and provides medical care for babies of all gestations.
