CONSULTANT MICROBIOLOGY VACANCY
We have been appointed by a large NHS Trust in Hertfordshire to assist them in recruiting two Consultants in Microbiology on a substantive or NHS Fixed Term basis. The department provides a comprehensive microbiological service to the hospital sites and to the community generally. All Microbiology tests (including Serology) are processed in the hub Laboratory at Addenbrooke's Hospital, run by Public Health England (PHE).
Consultants have regular contact with the hub laboratory. They are members of several clinical and technical committees (such as the East of England Medical Microbiology Development Group) and attendance of the consultants at some of these meetings is expected. Opportunities for joint research and audit projects are available. Involvement of consultants in such activities is encouraged.
The Department has also negotiated with Cambridge University Hospitals NHS FT the newly appointed Consultant have opportunities to do sessions at Cambridge for research/or service provision. This Consultant Microbiology vacancy consists of 10-11 programmed activities (PAs), but part-time and job share applicants are welcome to apply.
This is a career enhancing opportunity to work in a large district general hospital covering the full range of acute services. The Trust has also recently launched an exciting 12-month induction programme, this involves a monthly education session for new consultant topics include: ‘Being a new consultant – things I wish I'd known' and ‘Finance and contracts'.
Applicants must hold FRCPath Part 2 as a minimum and have full GMC registration for this Consultant Microbiology vacancy.
