Job description

Consultant Microbiologist - SW England - Perm or Locum FTC

Triple West Medical has been appointed by a number of NHS Trusts to help recruit a Consultant Microbiologist for a substantive or a Locum Fixed Term Contract.

They provide both acute and community services with over 5,000 staff. The department is a friendly team and very supportive of any interest and will encourage any Locum FTC postholders with CESR process.

Brief Duties:

  1. Providing a comprehensive clinical medical microbiology service including advising on specimens and analysis
  2. Validation and interpretation of results for the department and wards
  3. Involvement in the management of individual patients through full clinical liaison and ward visits
  4. Participation in medical audit and quality assurance and control within the laboratory and clinically
  5. Business planning, including the assessment and introduction of new methods, and forward planning for staff and equipment requirements
  6. Contributing to postgraduate and continuing medical education
  7. Participation in a recognised scheme of Continuing Professional Development. Funding and study leave is available for agreed purposes.
  8. Participation in clinical governance and other quality activities as relevant.
  9. Be an integral member of IPCT, advising and supporting the ICNs as agreed with the DIPC
  10. Attend hospital infection control committee
  11. Assist in preparing the annual infection prevention and control work programme.

Our client is happy to issue Certificates of Sponsorship to suitably qualified overseas doctors; however, GMC registration is essential for this position.
