University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Consultant in Medical Microbiology, with or without Infectious Diseases, to join our Infection Department across Worthing and SRH. The post will involve inpatient and outpatient service delivery, and a share of out-of-hours cover.

You will join a friendly team of Infection Doctors, contribute to antimicrobial stewardship, and engage in teaching and academic activities within a supportive governance framework.

Competenze

Essential: Basic medical degree.
Essential: FRCPath or appropriate specialist qualification.
Essential: Full and specialist registration (or eligible for registration within six months) with the GMC; UK- trained candidates should have CCT in Medical Microbiology +/- Infectious Diseases or be within six months of it at interview date.

Involvement in the management of patients with infections through direct clinical liaison (daily ITU/HDU, bacteraemia, complex infection, antimicrobial stewardship ward rounds).
Provision of a comprehensive infection service with advice on samples, interpretation of results, timely communication to requestors, treatment, and infection prevention advice.
Take up lead roles: OPAT, Arthroplasty, Clinical lead/deputy lead, Infection Control, Antimicrobial Stewardship.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant in Medical Microbiology, with or without Infectious Diseases, to join the University Hospitals Sussex, Department of Infection. The successful candidate will join our friendly, and committed team of 16 Infection Doctors in post, who have expertise across a broad range of clinical and academic areas and provide high quality infection services to the hospitals and community of Sussex.This post is based at Worthing Hospital and St Richard's Hospital (SRH), Chichester, where 4 Infection Consultants deliver a comprehensive, clinically focused service working closely with the UKAS accredited laboratory in SRH. We plan to further develop the infection service at Worthing & SRH by establishing formal inpatient Infection consults and Infection outpatient clinics.Inpatient Infectious Diseases is based at RSCH, in Brighton, in the recently completed state of the art Louisa Martindale Building, which has recently been awarded Specialist Regional Infectious Diseases Centre (SRIDC). A weekly MDT is held with ID colleagues in Brighton.

This post includes cover of the out-of-hours advice service for Worthing and SRH (1 in 4), with a day off in the week given in lieu of predictable on call. 2 Infection Trainees cover first on call 2 in 5.

Main duties of the job
