Applications are invited for the above post of Consultant Medical Oncologist with an interest in Breast, AO and Lung cancers, based in Eastbourne District General Hospital but employed by UHSussex Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and with sessions at ESHT & UHSussex
The "Sussex Cancer Centre Oncology Service" is a team of oncologists who are employed through University Hospitals Sussex NHS Foundation Trust working across the county providing clinical and medical oncology care to the population of Sussex. This includes provision of non-surgical cancer treatments across 5 hospital locations - Brighton, Haywards Heath, Worthing, Hastings, Eastbourne, and acute service support in Chichester.
The new appointee will work alongside colleagues in the Breast, AO & Lung sites reference groups which comprises of a mutliprofessional team including clinical oncologists, medical oncologists, pharmacists, clinical nurse specialists and cancer support workers.
The appointee will have an On Call Commitment at the Royal Sussex County Hospital on a >1:9 rota (currently 1 in 20).
The appointee will join the team of 30 Clinical/medical consultant oncologists who work across Sussex (Worthing, Brighton, Haywards Heath, Eastbourne and Hastings) in delivering a comprehensive oncology service for patients from across the Trust. Key duties will include regular outpatient clinics, MDM attendance, SACT prescribing and oversight, clinical supervision of non-medical staff, clinical governance, service developments, ward reviews and on call. It is also anticipated that the successful applicant will take an active role in education for trainees at all grades.
The appointee will contribute to teaching and supervision of medical students, junior medical staff and AHP/nurses. Applicants are encouraged to take part in Research and Audit and support junior team members in their Audit projects.
