Job description

The post attracts 10 programmed activities, and the appointee will be expected to participate in the on-call duties, which are currently a one-in-five rota.

Consultant offices are based on site at Queen's Hospital but clinical responsibilities mean rotating through both acute sites of Queen's Hospital and King George Hospital where we have on-site laboratories and appointees will be expected to take an active interest in these facilities.

Any candidate who is unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be eligible for consideration for the post. If such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust, in consultation with consultant colleagues.

About us

BHRUT is looking to appoint an enthusiastic Consultant Medical Microbiologist to join our team of 5 friendly, highly motivated, clinically orientated Microbiology colleagues in our well established multidisciplinary department. This is a new post.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

  • Full and specialist registration (and with a licence to practice) with the General Medical Council (GMC) or be eligible for registration within six months of interview.
  • Appropriate Clinical Training and wide experience in Clinical Microbiology/ Virology and Infection Control
  • To hold FRCPath or equivalent

Desirable

  • MSc Medical Microbiology
  • Experience of Educational Supervision, teaching skills or qualifications, developing Infection/Microbiology
  • MRCP or equivalent qualification
