Job description

Job Summary

The Urology service at University Hospitals of Derby and Burton has an exciting opportunity to appoint a motivated Urology Consultant Surgeon with an interest in female and functional urology. The successful candidate will join a forward‑thinking and progressive team of 14 urology professionals across both sites, supported by high quality colleagues in the wider MDT team, to provide an excellent service within our Urology Department based at Royal Derby Hospital.

Main Duties

Responsible for delivering a full range of outpatient and inpatient services at base sites and outreach clinics. The successful candidate will also provide emergency urology surgery as part of the relevant base site consultant‑call rota.

We expect flexibility to be able to work across all sites of University Hospitals of Derby and Burton Foundation Trust should the need arise.

Key Qualifications

• MBBS / MBChB or equivalent
• FRCS or equivalent higher qualification
• Life Support Qualifications ALS
• Full GMC Registration with a license to practice at time of application
• GMC Specialist Register for General Surgery Specialty OR within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview
• Minimum 6 months NHS experience
• Minimum 6 months experience in surgery
• Commitment to Continuing Professional Development and the requirements of clinical governance

Desirable

• Additional higher medical / scientific degree relevant to the specialty
• Attended a management course for consultants
• Specific teaching qualification
• Experience of teaching basic clinical skills to under‑graduates
