A healthcare organization in London is looking for a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in knee surgery. This role focuses on developing the Lower Limb Service and managing trauma cases. Candidates should have experience in arthroplasty and trauma orthopaedics. The position offers competitive remuneration and professional development opportunities, along with a well-structured healthcare system unmatched by NHS constraints.
This is an opportunity to join a dynamic, forward-looking Trauma and Orthopaedic department where the evolution of patient care is a priority. With a focus on work/life balance for staff and patient-centered healthcare, Jersey benefits from a health system separate from the NHS constraints and targets.
This new appointment aims to expand the Jersey lower limb service to meet increasing demand and provide a more comprehensive service to the population of Jersey.
The Lower Limb Service is currently provided by Mr Dunlop, Mr Haddad, Jersey T&O Consultants, and Mr West, who contributes part-time as Medical Director, along with two Advanced Care practitioners with physiotherapy backgrounds. This appointment is expected to enhance and develop the soft tissue knee service. The successful applicant will also cover general trauma out of hours and manage acute Trauma Orthopaedics for adults and paediatric patients.
Jersey offers healthcare professionals autonomy and the opportunity to shape the public health service on a developing island. The healthcare infrastructure includes the new Enid Quenault health care facility (2023) and ongoing investments in healthcare facilities, including a new acute hospital. Doctors enjoy more time to care, support for private work, and a focus on professional development and wellbeing.
Active teaching, training, and research opportunities are encouraged and supported, including participation in multi-centre clinical trials with bodies such as the NHS. The remuneration in Jersey is enhanced compared to the NHS, with attractive income tax rates.
