Job description

Position: Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a Special Interest in Knee Surgery

This new appointment aims to expand the Jersey lower limb service to meet increasing demand and provide a more comprehensive service to the population of Jersey.

The Lower Limb Service is currently provided by Mr Dunlop, Mr Haddad, Jersey T&O Consultants, and Mr West, who contributes part-time as Medical Director, along with two Advanced Care practitioners with physiotherapy backgrounds. This appointment is expected to enhance and develop the soft tissue knee service. The successful applicant will also cover general trauma out of hours and manage acute Trauma Orthopaedics for adults and paediatric patients.

Main Duties
Knee Service Responsibilities
  • Join the existing team of surgeons to focus on sub-specialties such as hip and foot and ankle surgeries.
  • Undertake arthroplasty surgeries, including primary and revision procedures.
  • Develop links with UK centres for complex case discussions and referrals.
Trauma Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the Lower Limb service and general trauma out-of-hours coverage.
  • Support the Middle Grade tier and manage acute Trauma Orthopaedics for adults and children.
  • Participate in departmental governance, audits, teaching, and training of junior staff and medical students.
  • Engage in Continuing Medical Education (CME), attend meetings, and participate in MDT/Trauma meetings.
