Job summary

An Integrated Care System is seeking a dynamic Consultant Rheumatologist for their team in London. In this role, you will provide personalized care to patients, work with multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to the education of junior doctors. Ideal candidates will have full GMC registration, CCST in Rheumatology, and a commitment to ongoing medical education.

Qualifications

  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to gaining the UK CCST in Rheumatology.
  • Ability to take independent responsibility for patient care.
  • Understanding of clinical governance, teaching experience, and expertise in rheumatology.

Responsibilities

Consultant in Rheumatology

We are looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Consultant Rheumatologist to join our team atSt George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The main duties of the role will be providing personalised care for patients in an outpatient setting, responding to GP advice and guidance requests, triaging new referrals and providing ward consultations to inpatients. You will also contribute significantly to multidisciplinary teams whilst receiving support for your own specialist development. There are also opportunities to support education and training of junior doctors and to get involved in research via the department's close links with St George's University.

We are interested in appointing a motivated and highly competent doctor to this post, and you will have the opportunity to further develop high quality rheumatology services across St George's and Queen Mary's Hospitals.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will;

  • Have continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge.
  • Work closely with consultant colleagues in the Rheumatology care group to ensure proper functioning of the Care Group, appropriate co-ordination of clinical services and continuity of care for patients.
  • Work as part of the clinical team to ensure that the waiting list targets are met.
  • Continually update their education in Rheumatology and GiM and fulfill his/her CME and GMC revalidation requirements
  • Take part in the training of undergraduate and postgraduate doctors and in the professional development of other staff groups in relation to Rheumatological clinical care.

Person Specification
Education
  • Full registration with the GMC
  • CCST in Rheumatology (or within 3 months of date of interview)
  • MRCP (UK or Ireland)
  • PhD or MD
Experience
  • Clinical training and experience equivalent to that required for gaining the UK CCST in Rheumatology and GiM
  • Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients
  • Understanding and experience of all aspects of clinical governance
  • Teaching medical undergraduates, postgraduates, nursing and other healthcare professionals
  • Established expertise in a specialist field of rheumatology
  • Experience in the design, recruitment, conduct and analysis of clinical trials
  • Experience in basic scientific research
  • Original research publications in peer reviewed journals
Skills
  • Ability to advise on the efficient and smooth running of a specialist service
  • Ability to lead, organise and manage
  • Computer-literate in Office applications
  • Knowledge of IT-based patient information systems
