University Hospitals Dorset NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry. The closing date is 10 November 2025.

University Hospitals Dorset welcomes applications for a Consultant in Restorative Dentistry.

The post holder will be a single-handed restorative consultant working as part of a wider multidisciplinary team within the Head & Neck Directorate, comprised of specialties such as Oral Maxillofacial Surgery, Ear Nose & Throat and Ophthalmology.

This post is advertised at 4 PAs with the possibility of extending to 6 PAs. We strongly encourage a conversation from any interested candidate to discuss flexible options.

This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in the delivery of restorative dentistry for patients across Dorset.

Main duties of the job

The duties of the post include the following:

  • Provision of outpatient clinics: new, review and treatments
  • Inclusion and contribution to the multidisciplinary care of patients within OMF
  • Inclusion and contribution to the multidisciplinary care of patients with Head & Neck cancer
  • To review and refine restorative dentistry pathways in UHD and to build close working relationships with Dorset ICB Dental Lead and Dental commissioning team to support Dorset patients
  • To Participate in clinical audits and be an active participant and contributor in Clinical Governance
  • To actively engage and participate in job planning and appraisal processes
  • Supervision of the specialist dental team including clinical assistant and hygienist
  • To maintain effective communication and working relationships with medical, scientific, management, technical and nursing staff, as required for performing the responsibilities of this post. This includes electronic communication within the department, the Trust, and with national and international colleagues
  • To lead by example and set and maintain high professional standards
  • The successful candidate will work according to the terms and conditions of the new Consultant contract.
