A leading healthcare institution in Ashford seeks a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine. You will join a dedicated team focusing on comprehensive respiratory care, enhancing your expertise and interests in pleural medicine, lung cancer, and other areas. Applications are invited for a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine post at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust as part of a major expansion of Respiratory services.
You will be joining a team of 14 consultants, 1 Respiratory Nurse Consultant, and a team of Nurse specialists (sleep, lung cancer, NIV) with an in-patient Respiratory practitioner team, a fully equipped Respiratory Physiology department, and a dynamic, evolving service reconfiguring to allow targeted sub-specialty work and a 7-day respiratory service across the region.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration and must be on the Specialist Register or within six months of their CCT from the date of the interview.
Applicants will have extensive General Respiratory experience with expertise in Pleural, ILD, Allergy or Lung cancer. Applicants with any sub-speciality interests are welcome and will be accommodated. Applicants interested in Respiratory Medicine with interests in Intensive care, Infectious diseases or acute medicine will be welcome.
We have weekly EBUS and Pleural list (including IPC insertion). There has been a recent substantial increase in the number of respiratory nurses to support both inpatient and outpatient respiratory service. The sleep and domiciliary NIV service is one of the largest in the country and has expanded following a successful business case to support this large service.
East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in England, providing regional services for 1.8 million Kent residents, including vascular surgery, renal services, primary PCI (PPCI) and acute stroke intervention. We provide a full range of acute services to our local population of around 800,000 with major changes to patient pathways and significant investment in acute medical consultants and ambulatory care with specialist in-reach from other specialties. A new medical school opened in September 2020 as part of a long-term county-wide education and research strategy.
