Job overview
Applications are invited for a position in the Department of Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery at Oxford University Hospitals. The post-holder will be responsible for general plastic surgery services with a specialist interest in trauma surgery and trauma-related reconstruction of both lower and upper limbs.
This role offers an opportunity to join a dynamic team of limb reconstructive surgeons and gain experience in trauma reconstruction. The department maintains excellent collaboration between plastic and orthopaedic teams, with support and mentoring for new consultants. The use of BSSH hand trauma triage algorithms through an online referral service helps reduce clinic footfall and facilitates timely reviews. The Plastics Trauma consultants lead services for upper and lower limb trauma, and the post includes time at the Nuffield Orthopaedic Centre to establish a formal Orthoplastics service for Prosthetic Joint Infection.
Main duties of the job
The duties will primarily be at The John Radcliffe and Churchill Hospitals in Oxford. Flexibility to work at any of the Trust’s locations and partner hospitals is required, with annualised job plans reflecting this.
We seek a dedicated and enthusiastic Consultant to join our innovative team. Oxford’s department covers the full spectrum of Plastic Surgery, with active teaching, microsurgery practice stations, cadaver training, and quality improvement projects. Oxford is a Major Trauma Centre, performing well on the National Dashboard for BOAST compliance. Our trauma team works closely with orthopaedic colleagues to ensure high-quality care.
