Job description
Overview

Applications are invited for an up to 7.5 PA substantive consultant post in Paediatric Respiratory Medicine. The post is based at Bristol Royal Hospital for Children (BRHC) and will expand the clinical complement in respiratory paediatrics to six consultants. This is an exciting progression which will permit subspecialisation, including the development of components of the respiratory service, in particular severe asthma. The hospital provides a respiratory service to the children of Bristol, South Gloucestershire & North Somerset and a specialised service for children across the South West of England with some supra‑regional referrals. The post holder will take a proportionate share in the consultant of the week rota in paediatric respiratory medicine, contribute to cystic fibrosis and respiratory clinics, perform bronchoscopy on elective and emergency lists, and share in the sleep diagnostic service. During attending service weeks, the post holder will see inpatients under the care of the paediatric respiratory medicine team and accept referrals from other specialty teams within the hospital and from general paediatric teams from throughout the South West. The post holder will contribute to the second on‑call weekend rota, involving ward rounds of specialty patients on Saturday and Sunday, and there is a small contribution to the out of hours acute general paediatric consultant rota.

  • Contribute to cystic fibrosis and respiratory clinics.
  • Perform bronchoscopy on elective and emergency lists.
