A leading healthcare provider in Leeds is seeking a Consultant in Paediatric Gastroenterology to deliver specialized care to children. Thepaediatric gastroenterology department at Leeds is a regional service for theassessment,
diagnosis,treatment and follow-up of children who have, or may have, inflammatory bowel
disease,intestinal failure, coeliac disease, and a wide range of miscellaneousgastrointestinal
conditionssuch as gastroesophageal reflux disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis,gastroparesis,
chronicdiarrhoea, severe constipation, feeding difficulties, and functional disordersincluding
recurrentabdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome and cyclical vomiting.
Thecore objective of this post is to deliver care to patients withgastroenterological and nutritional disorders at the Leeds Childrens Hospital throughOut-patient clinics, On-call (1:6) patient supervision, providing telephoneadvice, daily ward rounds, and contributing to Specialist Multi-disciplinaryteam meetings.
Thesuccessful applicant should possess membershipexamination of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (or equivalent) andshould be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at thetime of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointmentregulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the SpecialistRegister.
Applicants should haveestablished skills in Paediatric Gastroenterology and its related specialtiesincluding motility and endoscopy. A strong commitment to undergraduate andpostgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.
Consideration will be given to applicantswho wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

In relation to this post,the paediatric gastroenterology department at Leeds is a regional service forthe assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of children who have, or mayhave, inflammatory bowel disease, intestinal failure, coeliac disease, motilityissues and a wide range of miscellaneous gastrointestinal conditions such asgastroesophageal reflux disease, eosinophilic oesophagitis, gastroparesis,chronic diarrhoea, severe constipation, feeding difficulties, and functionaldisorders including recurrent abdominal pain, irritable bowel syndrome andcyclical vomiting.
2.OBJECTIVESOF THE POST
To delivercare to patients with gastroenterological and nutritional disorders at theLeeds Childrens Hospital
Supervision of patients on a 1:6 Consultant on-call rota to provide telephoneadvice and daily ward rounds.
Contribute to Specialist Multi-disciplinary team meetings.
