We are looking for someone to join our team at Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust and Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. You will work across both Sheffield Children's Hospital and Northern General Hospital, with your employment contract held by Sheffield Children's Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

You will become part of a dedicated team of four surgeons specialising in paediatric spinal surgery at Sheffield Children's Hospital. Additionally, our Consultants also collaborate with four other Consultant Spinal Surgeons at the Northern General Hospital, who focus exclusively on adult spinal care.

About You:

• Experience in complex / reconstructive adult and paediatric spinal surgery is essential to support a range of spinal conditions, including deformity, trauma, infection and tumour cases, and degenerative work.

• Enthusiasm for research and education, with an opportunity for an honorary senior clinical lectureship with the University of Sheffield.

The planned Appointment Advisory Committee panel will take place on Friday 22nd September.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Team Lead (Spinal Surgery), your responsibilities will include:

• Support complex and reconstructive adult and paediatric spinal surgery, including deformity, trauma, infection, tumour cases, and degenerative conditions.

• Participate in a spinal on-call rota (1 in 8) for both adult and paediatric spinal emergencies. There is no commitment to general orthopaedic surgery or general trauma.

• Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and training.

• Develop sub-specialty paediatric and adult spinal surgery interests to complement existing consultant staff.

• Contribute to research within the field of spinal surgery.
