An established industry player in healthcare is seeking a dedicated consultant in paediatric anaesthesia to enhance their team. Required to fill a new and a replacement post within the anaesthetic department, Leeds Children's Hospital.
You will participate in the undergraduate teaching program for the school of Medicine, University of Leeds, which is organised on specialty or clinical area basis. The appointee, with colleagues, will contribute to the teaching of postgraduates, including the teaching program for StRs in Anaesthesia in the Yorkshire Deanery.

Main duties of the job
The successful applicants should possess FRCA (or equivalent) and should be included on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview, if currently within a training programme within the UK. In accordance with the consultant appointment regulations, all other categories of doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in paediatric anaesthesia and have undertaken advanced training in this area. Excellent communication and team working skills, a strong commitment to teaching and service development are essential.
Consideration will be given to applicants who wish to work full or part time and those wishing to job share.

In relation to this post, there is a requirement for increased anaesthetic capacity to deliver additional activity coupled with the recurrent dependence on locum consultant anaesthetists to deliver the existing service. The requirement to deliver the current service level agreements and additional elective sessions requires an increase in the number of anaesthetic consultants employed by the Trust.
2. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST
1. To work with other consultant colleagues in the provision of a comprehensive paediatric anaesthetic service in the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.
2. To develop and/or consolidate expertise in paediatric and neonatal anaesthesia.
3. To maintain and expand the excellence of teaching and research already established within the Trust.
4. To support service plans for the specialty, taking account of the changes in clinical practice and new technologies available.
5. To participate in and progress Clinical Governance.
