Join the NHS as a Consultant Specialist in Otolaryngology - Rhinology at the new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital. This permanent role offers opportunities for professional development, involvement in service design, and a chance to contribute to a diverse, innovative team dedicated to improving patient outcomes.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and forward thinking substantive Consultant ENT Surgeon with a special interest in Rhinology to join our team. This is a permanent 10 PA post to help with the elective backlog and to expand the SWB ENT consultant team as we have now moved to MMUH. The successful applicant will be supported to deliver and to develop sub-specialty interests to complement the existing consultant staff.
It is an exciting time at the Trust with our brand new Midland Metropolitan University Hospital (MMUH) now open and we are looking for enthusiastic, innovative and progressive clinicians to progress the department at our new site. The Trust has also recently become part of the Black Country and West Birmingham Integrated Care System and there will be opportunity to be involved in the design of regional services.
Applications are welcomed from candidates with FRCS (or equivalent) who are on the Full General Medical Council's Specialist Register. Applicants within 6 months of attaining their CCT at time will be considered.
The successful applicant will join our growing team of 9 consultant ENT surgeons delivering elective and emergency care including contributing to a 1 in 8 emergency non-resident on-call rota. The successful candidate will be expected to work across all trust sites. Elective activity day case and outpatient clinic is delivered at the Birmingham Treatment centre (BTC) with further elective outpatients, activity at Sandwell Health Campus and inpatient operating and on call at MMUH. The Department is further supported by 2 Clinical Nurse specialist posts, 6 Specialty middle grades, 3 core training level doctors (one surgical and two GP trainees) and three Foundation year doctors.
To support our junior team, an interest in medical education is welcome and the successful candidates will be encouraged to take on an additional role as an educator. Active engagement in quality improvement activity and research is expected and as well as an active post graduate teaching program, the department is also committed to training the undergraduates from the medical schools of University of Birmingham and Aston University, Birmingham.
