Overview

Newcastle is proud to be a leading clinical and academic centre for ageing and geriatrics. We have a strong focus on innovation, research and driving quality of care for older people. We are looking for a dynamic geriatrician who is passionate about innovation and will work well within a progressive team of 16 Geriatricians.

The Department of Older People's Medicine manages frailty across wards, clinics, day units and community services, with a frailty-based strategy including community and "front door" frailty, admission avoidance and comprehensive geriatric assessment out of hospital. The post holder will play a key role in shaping new ways of working, including front of house frailty service developments, or supporting other aspects of departmental sub-speciality service delivery and development. The delivery of clinical services within Older People's Medicine includes in-patient wards, day unit, out-patient, "front of house" frailty and community services. Additional sessions to support a sub-speciality interest, teaching and research opportunities are likely to be available, appropriately job planned.
