Position Overview: We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team in York. The Consultant will play a crucial role in providing expert psychiatric care to older adults, contributing to the enhancement of mental health services in York, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the delivery of high-quality patient-centered care.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evaluations of older adult patients.
  • Develop personalized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices and clinical expertise.
  • Provide specialized psychiatric care, including medication management, psychotherapy, and cognitive assessments, to address the unique needs of older adults.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams, including geriatricians, nurses, psychologists, and social workers, to coordinate care and ensure holistic support for patients.
  • Lead and participate in case conferences, team meetings, and clinical supervision sessions to review patient progress, discuss treatment strategies, and optimize outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Completion of specialist training in Psychiatry and eligibility for inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register.
  • Extensive experience and expertise in providing psychiatric care to older adults, with a focus on Old Age Psychiatry.
  • Strong clinical skills in conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
