Position Overview: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry to join our team in Rochdale. You will provide clinical leadership and expertise in old age mental health, supporting comprehensive psychiatric services for older adults in the community. Key Responsibilities:
- Providing psychiatric assessment and diagnosis for older adults with conditions like dementia, depression, anxiety, and psychosis.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans using evidence-based practices, including pharmacological, psychological, and social interventions.
- Leading and supervising multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality, coordinated care.
- Participating in team meetings, case conferences, and clinical reviews to develop and review care plans.
- Educating and supporting older adults and their families on mental health conditions and management strategies.
- Collaborating with external agencies to facilitate integrated care pathways.
- Engaging in quality improvement, clinical audits, and research activities to enhance care quality.
Requirements:
- Medical degree, specialist training in old age psychiatry, GMC registration, and inclusion on the Specialist Register for Psychiatry.
- Significant post-qualification experience as a Consultant Psychiatrist in old age mental health services.
- Strong leadership and communication skills to motivate teams and engage with patients and families.
- Commitment to person-centered and recovery-oriented care.
- Knowledge of legislation, policies, and best practices in old age mental health.
- Willingness to participate in on-call duties and training sessions.
