The South Bucks Community Mental Health Team based at Saffron House, High Wycombe are welcoming applications for full-time and part-time roles.

Main duties of the job

You will be working within the Community Mental Health Team which serves a total population of approximately 57 000 adults over the age of 65 with both functional and organic mental illness and you will be expected to see patients in the community, out-patients (including memory clinic) and occasional liaison patients.

You will undertake one outpatient clinic per week (maximum two new patients or up to five follow-up patients) and one Memory Assessment Service clinic per week (with the same maximum patient numbers).

You will be expected to provide clinical leadership to the wider CMHT and Oxford Health supports new ways of working for Consultant Psychiatrists.

Person Specification

Qualifications

Essential

  • Membership or Fellowship of the Royal College of Psychiatrists, or equivalent qualification (in accordance with Royal College of Psychiatrist\'s Guidelines)
  • Approved clinician Status and Section 12( MHA) approval are essential. Candidates who are in the process of obtaining AC approval will be considered

Desirable

  • Higher degree or equivalent in relevant field of medical, psychological or other studies or postgraduate teaching qualification

Training and Clinical Experience

Essential

  • Higher specialist training in old age psychiatry (or dual training) in approved training post for a minimum of three years, equivalent training in another country, or previous consultant experience relevant to this post
  • CCT in Psychiatry OR inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register in psychiatry OR within six months of achieving CCT at the time of interview OR CESR
  • Experience of the full range of clinical responsibilities expected of a consultant in this specialty
  • Experience of close collaborative work with social care and other agencies
  • Experience of working in a Memory Assessment Service

Desirable

  • Sub specialty or other specialist clinical training relevant to post
  • Application of evidence-based practice and interest in clinical and policy developments for this care group
  • Development of close collaboration with primary care services
