Overview

Western Health, Melbourne, Australia is seeking passionate and skilled Consultant Obstetricians to lead and deliver expert care for women with complex psychosocial needs, including those affected by substance use, mental health challenges, or incarceration.

About the Role

Be at the forefront of implementing a new multidisciplinary care model for pregnant women with complex needs. Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading a multidisciplinary team comprising obstetricians, midwives, social workers, mental health professionals, and legal specialists
  • Providing antenatal and acute care, including clinic and theatre duties
  • Supporting and supervising Junior Medical Staff while fostering professional development
  • Contributing to clinical guidelines and quality improvement initiatives
What We Are Looking For

We’re seeking FRANZCOG-qualified specialists or equivalent, with:

  • AHPRA Specialist Registration or international registration (eligible for peer-review pathways)
  • Expertise in managing high-risk pregnancies and complex care
  • Collaborative communication and leadership skills within multidisciplinary teams
  • Commitment to patient-centred care, safety, and quality standards
  • A passion for mentoring junior staff and contributing to research or service innovation
