Our Obstetrics and Gynaecology department are looking to recruit a Consultant with a special interest in Urogynaecology to join their team of dedicated clinicians.
The post holder will have full continuing clinical responsibility for the care of patients under his/her charge and the provision of obstetrics & gynaecology treatment which is relevant to their medical condition whilst in the hospital. This may require the provision, advice and assistance to Consultants in other specialities and the proper delegation to and training of junior medical staff.
Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother Hospital has 3000 deliveries per year. The Labour Ward has 8 delivery rooms and a dedicated obstetric emergency theatre which is present on the Labour Ward. There is a joint antenatal and postnatal ward and a co-located maternity led unit. A midwifery led Maternity Day Unit is adjacent to the Labour Ward. There are specialist clinics that take place weekly in urogynaecology, fertility, colposcopy, fetal medicine, high risk obstetrics and rapid access clinics. Facilities for urodynamics, outpatient hysteroscopy and early pregnancy ultrasound scanning also exist. A dedicated early pregnancy unit (EPAU) and gynae assessment unit (GAU) are also present which is adjacent to the gynaecology ward.
