Are you a dedicated & passionate neuroradiologist looking to take your career to the next level? We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant Neuroradiologist to join our team of 9 neuroradiologists & play a pivotal role in the provision of a comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology service.

You will take on a variety of responsibilities to enhance the quality of healthcare services in our institution:

  • Diagnostic Excellence: Your role will involve reporting & prioritising imaging requests, ensuring timely & accurate diagnosis for patients, making a real impact on their care
  • Collaboration: You'll have the opportunity to attend clinical-radiological meetings & participate in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, fostering collaboration & enhancing patient outcomes.
  • On-Call Service : Providing on-call services for diagnostic neuroradiology will be a crucial aspect of your role, ensuring that patients have access to your expertise when they need it most.
  • Research and Teaching: We encourage & support your active participation in research, audit activities, and educational initiatives. Share your knowledge & contribute to the growth of future medical professionals.
  • Subspecialty Interests: If you have additional subspecialty interests within neuroradiology, your expertise & passion will be embraced & integrated into our team.
  • Equal On-Call Commitment: You will share the on-call commitment equally with our existing consultants, promoting a fair and balanced workload.

Main duties of the job

  • Collaborate with a team of five Consultant Diagnostic Neuroradiologists and four Consultant Interventional Neuroradiologists.
  • Serve a population of 1.6 million with tertiary level neuroradiology services.
  • Contribute to comprehensive diagnostic neuroradiology services.
  • Duties include reporting, prioritization of imaging requests, clinical-radiological meetings, and on-call services.
  • Active participation in the general diagnostic neuroradiology service (1:6 ratio).
  • Engage in audit, teaching, research, MDT meetings.
  • Welcome additional subspecialty interests.
  • Join various MDTs and clinical meetings.
  • Share on-call commitment equally with existing consultants.

Person specification

Experience/Qualifications

  • •Full GMC Registration with a licence to practice
  • •CCT in Radiology or equivalent (equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)
  • •Entry onto the GMC Specialist Register or eligibility for entry within 6 months of the date of the AAC
  • •Higher Degree
  • •Distinctions, scholarships, prizes, other degress e.g. BSc, MSc, MS

Clinical Skills & Experience

  • •Neuroradiology subspecialty training in Cross Sectional reporting
  • •Experience of reporting complex neuroimaging
  • •Understanding of clinical risk management
  • •An ability to communicate well with patients and staff
  • •Fellowship in neuroradiology/ Head & Neck
  • •Experience in head & neck cross sectional reporting
  • •Experience in advanced neuroimaging techniques and/or working in close collaboration with a tertiary neurosciences unit

Knowledge

  • •Breadth of experience in and outside specialty

Organisation & Planning

  • •Experience and ability to work in multi-professional teams
  • •Understanding of: NHS / Clinical governance / Resource constraints
  • •Evidence of managerial skills: Achievements / Course attended

Teaching Skills

  • •Evidence of an interest and commitment to teaching
  • •Recognised teaching qualification e.g. PGcert Med Ed
