Job summary
University Hospitals Dorset wishes to appoint a full time Consultant Radiologists who would be expected to have expertise inmusculoskeletal radiology. The successful applicant will share responsibility with 3 other colleagues for the provision of all aspects of MSK imaging and intervention in our Trust.A fellowship in MSK radiology would be desirable. The successful candidate should expect to work at any of the UHD sites (RBH, PGH and XCH),as well as possible sessions at associated community hospitals. The post holder will be part of the diagnostic radiology on-call (currently 1:12, with outsourcing of overnight work from 9pm) .
The MSK imaging service supports a busy acute and planned Orthopaedic Dept (24 Consultants, 26 Middle grade and 7 Fellows). UHD houses the largest arthroplasty service in Europe and is the local Trauma Unit.
Post-holders will be expected to provide general and specialist MSK imaging services across all modalities (Nuclear Medicine is run separately). Participation in a general CT session supports the skills for on call. There will be opportunities to expand into/develop other MSK areas. Job planned commitments would also include an US list and fluoro/US/CT guided MSK procedures. The plain film reporting is equally distributed amongst radiologists and reporting radiographers.
Support to Orthopaedic, Trauma, Rheumatology, Spinal, Sarcoma MDTs is shared between the MSK Radiologist.

Qualifications
Essential
FRCR or equivalent
Full GMC registration and license to practice.
Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCST, CESR (CP) (proposed CCT/CESR date must be within 6 months of interview)
Desirable
Other post - graduate teaching and /or research qualifications
Training in teaching skills
Experience
Essential
Competent in general radiology and especially MSK imaging.
Knowledge and experience of image guided MSK intervention, with the technical skills to undertake these.
Ability to interpret cross-sectional radiological studies using axial, multiplanar and 3D techniques. Ability to construct reports in a concise, readable and clinically relevant format.
Ability to manage MSK related MDT conferences
Desirable
Broad based with specialist level knowledge of MSK
Skills in sarcoma reporting, biopsies
Demonstrate completed audit projects. Ideally, with MSK relevance and outcomes
Clinical and Technical Skills and Competencies
Essential
Must understand principles of audit in relation to clinical radiology

Experience with regional PACS systems
Training in teaching
Completed audit or quality improvement activity directly relevant to this role
