This is a whole-time post consisting of 11.5 Programmed Activities (or equivalent for Consultant Clinical Scientist), which can include on-call commitments. The post includes 8 PA for direct clinical care (DCC), 2 PA supporting professional activity (SPA), and an additional 1.5 PA paid for out-of-hours on-call commitments (1:5), attracting the highest frequency rate.

The team works closely together, and all members have infection control responsibilities as part of normal clinical duties. Candidates unable to work full-time for personal reasons will be considered. If appointed, job modifications will be discussed on a personal basis with the department/hospital in consultation with clinical colleagues. Those opting for a maximum part-time contract will be required to devote substantially the whole of their professional time to the post's duties.

Consultants not required to be on-site for clinical duties may work remotely. Some aspects of the Ipswich site clinical service may also be provided remotely on rotation with other service members.
