Job description

Guy's and St Thomas' is among the UK's busiest and most successful NHS foundation trusts. Our adult community services teams deliver care at the heart of the local communities we serve, working in partnership with GPs, local authorities and other healthcare and voluntary sector organisations. Cancer services in Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust (GSTT) have undergone a major transformation programme to improve the quality of care and patient experience. The programme includes a new Cancer Centre housing ambulatory cancer services, opened in 2016 and a new cancer treatment centre at Queen Mary's Hospital Sidcup (QMS) which opened in May 2017. Clinical pathways have been revised to optimise patient care. This post comprises 5.25 PAs to join the teams at Guy's and St Thomas NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties of the job

The post includes MDMs and clinics at Guy's. Guy's hosts a well-developed clinical trials unit and the team makes significant contributions to trial recruitment.

The skin cancer service includes an active clinical trial portfolio with a focus on novel immunotherapy trials including earlier phase (e.g., Phase 2) trials. The team work together closely with the Early Phase Trials Unit and Cell Therapy Unit to jointly deliver advanced trial therapies (e.g., TILs/CAR-T). The service also supports basic and translational research programmes at King's College London via King's Health Partners.

We are looking for a motivated clinician with an interest in skin cancers. The postholder will be working closely with Drs Mark Harries, Dr Yin Wu and Dr Amanda Fitzpatrick. They will be supported by a team of CNS's. Professional Qualifications

Essential criteria

• Hold MRCP
• Full GMC Registration
• On GMC Specialist List in Medical Oncology or within six months of attaining CCT.

Desirable criteria

• Possession of, or working towards, a higher degree qualification (MD or PhD)
• FRCP

Clinical Experience

Essential criteria

• Training in management of skin cancers
• Experience in leading and delivering recruitment to early phase clinical trials, including advanced therapies.
• Experience of multidisciplinary cancer care.
• Experience of clinical trial development and operation.

Desirable criteria

• Wide general experience in Medical Oncology and an ability to offer expert clinical opinion in a range of problems within the speciality.
