Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking two Consultants in Liver Transplant and Organ Retrieval. The role involves delivering a comprehensive transplant service and requires established skills in liver transplantation and organ retrieval. Candidates should possess FRCS or equivalent and have a commitment to teaching and research. The Hepatobiliary and Liver Transplant surgery team consists of 8 full-time consultants delivering services across Yorkshire and the North-West region.
The service currently provides:
You will join other consultants to provide and develop a comprehensive Adult Liver Transplant and Organ Retrieval service (part of the National Organ Retrieval Service) for Yorkshire and beyond. Experience in Liver Transplantation and Organ Retrieval is essential; skills in Splitting Livers, Machine Preservation, and Live Donor Liver Transplantation are desirable. Leeds Teaching Hospitals has a strong reputation in clinical management, teaching, and research.

The successful applicant should possess FRCS (or equivalent) and be on the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at the time of interview. All other doctors must be on the Specialist Register.
Applicants should have established skills in liver transplantation, organ retrieval, and general surgery. Experience in machine perfusion technologies and ANRP is highly desirable. The role includes general surgery duties related to benign biliary disease and other surgical aspects. Coverage for the National Organ Retrieval Service is also required, currently provided for 39 weeks each year.
A commitment to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and a research interest is desirable.

The role involves participation in a 1:8 Liver Transplant Consultant on-call rota and Organ Retrieval Service (12 days in a 48-week cycle).
