Job Description:

Consultant in Infectious Diseases with either Microbiology or General Medicine

NHS Lanarkshire - University Hospital Monklands

Applicants are invited for the posts of Consultant in Infectious Diseases with either Microbiology or General Medicine, based at University Hospital Monklands (UHM). Two new posts are available.

Appointees will be working within the existing Infectious Diseases and/or Microbiology teams. This progressive and innovative development continues to bring together the existing departments of Infectious Diseases and Microbiology. The introduction of these new posts will allow us to restructure how clinical infection services are delivered in NHS Lanarkshire, enabling a more holistic, bench-to-bedside infection service.

NHS Lanarkshire is committed to developing care pathways that avoid unnecessary hospital admissions and support safe and timely discharges. There is a plan for a large-scale expansion of the regional OPAT (outpatient parenteral antibiotic therapy) and Infection Consult service to provide equitable access to OPAT across Lanarkshire for all patients who may benefit from outpatient IV antibiotics.

These posts are flexible depending on the educational background and specializations of the applicants.
