A new opportunity has risen to join our friendly team for the post of Consultant in General Medicine. This post will be based in West Suffolk Hospital which covers a 33 bedded ward. The post involves in-patient duties, outpatients duties (depending on the specialty interest), and regular commitment to both in-reach into the medical admissions unit and on-call for general medicine.
The West Suffolk Gastroenterology team is currently looking for a consultant in General Medicine on a permanent basis to enhance the current service, as we look forward towards the new hospital build. The applicant would be looking after medical patients on up to 50% of the Gastro ward, which is currently shared by nine Gastro consultants. The consultants are currently rotating on and off the ward on a weekly basis. This provides opportunity for the applicant to have dedicated time to develop their sub-speciality interest, mainly in the afternoons/evenings.

This is an amazing time to apply for a Consultant post in General Internal Medicine at West Suffolk Hospital. We are looking for highly motivated, innovative and skilled individual to join the team of Consultants with areas of special interest which can include Respiratory, Diabetes/Endocrinology, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Emergency/Acute Medicine, Stroke and Geriatric Medicine. We are looking to recruit to a standard job plan of 10 sessions per week, and details of the job plan can be agreed with the successful candidate.
There will be expectation to contribute to the Physician of the Day rota for unselected medical take on weekdays and weekends.
Being able to lead in complex MDT/Board Round discussions on ongoing care and making advanced care planning decisions will be essential to help support patient flow out of the hospital.
